Prathamesh Samal - Antilog Vacations Kerala Review AVB0096812

The Riverside Retreat is a small but well maintained resort near the suburbs of Alleppey bordering the backwaters. I visited the resort last monsoon with my friends through the services of Antilog Vacations. The rains were incessant but the combination of the rains and the backwaters created a strangely pleasant experience after the stresses we face in our everyday lives.

The room are not huge with no major high end furniture being present, this can actually work both ways; while some may get annoyed at the absence of modern luxuries some others may appreciate the rustic lifestyle and like us can take the same in their stride. These basic rooms were though well maintained and quite clean and well ventilated too.

Though the exact location of the resort is away from the main lands, there is a nearby village of Ambalapuzha which provide the major activity hub for this resort. There are lots to things to do inside this small town. The hotel is well connected with this small town and the owners provided us with all the necessary details needed to roam in the town. A word of praise for the owners who were really helpful throughout and tried their best even if something was unavailable. The food was really good and authentic too. The room delivery service was superb and we really enjoyed the piping hot food amidst the rains.

However on the flip side because of the rains there was an increase in the influx of mosquitoes, something which you should be ready for if you visit in the monsoons. Thus take your pick while deciding the season to visit as well as while choosing which hotel to visit. If you don’t like the quiet rustic life and enjoy the activity prone lifestyle this may not be the best choice for you, however the reverse applies too...
